Homeopathy is a therapeutic method that helps the body to be relieved from symptoms and diseases in a mild, safe and effective way. Homeopathy treats the body as a whole system taking into account the body, soul and mind.
‘Homeo” means similar in Greek and ‘Pathos” means disease . So the word by itself is suggesting to treat with the same disease…
Hippocrates (460 – 370 BC) first began the general idea and principles of homeopathy, he stated that passions cause diseases and therefor can heal them.
Socrates (470 – 399 BC) then said that just as we should not attempt to heal eyes without a head, nor a head without a body, neither would a body without a soul. He gave importance to the whole.
Later Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) found and continued these original theories. He realised that when he tried quinine in a healthy body it caused the symptoms of malaria while he cured it in sick. This became the “law of the likes”. In 1811 he published the Organon of Medicine with everything he found and compared in the course of his work.
James Tyler Kent (1849-1916) combined emotion, physical symptoms and the mental part of the body to call it temperament.
Professor George Vythoulkas(1932 – ) is the modern great teacher of homeopathy who deposits his knowledge with confidence in the younger student who continue the work of homeopathy.
